Beam Prototype

The primary premise of this scheme is to use a single piece of steel that will morph into a variety of sections to cantilever a concrete mass that will act as a chill out spot for students.

The concrete is formed to create the platform, stair, guardrail and seating. Currently it is approximately 183 cubic feet of concrete that equates to 27,540 pounds.

The beam transitions from various types of stand extruded steel sections using the wide flange as the initial starting point.

The Prototype takes a part of this system to fabricate using aluminum plate. The plate is laser cut, bent and welded to form the transition from flange to triangle section.
